The New Mexico HIDTA Training Coordinator position is currently being held by Ms. Cheryl Navarrete. Ms. Navarrete has been involved with law enforcement for over twenty years. She has been the training coordinator for New Mexico HIDTA since the inception of the Training Initiative in 2004. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: assisting in negotiating training courses and speakers as well as coordinating the development of training classes; conducting training needs assessments; identifying potential instructors; developing annual training calendars; preparing course descriptions; marketing and announcing courses to ensure adequate attendance; ensuring classroom setup for all courses meets the needs of instructors; maintaining records of all training activities. Since Ms. Navarrete took over this position she has become a Microsoft Office Specialist and instructs officers and others in the areas of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
